Guido van Rossum (creator of the python programming language) is leaving dropbox.
I've used python whenever it‘s made sense in my career and hope to return to using it soon. I highly recommend you read the blog post, but here are a few key tidbits:
- Python just works.
- Early stage dropbox used a lot of python.
- Maintainable code is better than clever code.
- Testing culture is good.
- Guido is all about more women in STEM.
While not explicitly mentioned in the article PEP 20 The Zen of Python has been an important part of python since 2004. I wish more programming languages cared about how the code is written instead of only focusing on it solving a short term issue.
